Emmanuelle Orr is a French artist based in London and Paris.
After graduating with a degree in Visual Arts from Panthéon Sorbonne university in Paris, she moved to London and for twenty years pursued a career in non Art-related industries.
She decided to resume her creative practice a few years ago, and, having remembered why art was her first love and how much she had missed it, quickly decided to devote herself to it full time.
She took up screen printing 18 months ago, and really enjoys the physicality of printing and the way several media can be used in the creation of the original design for each artwork.
Her prints are mostly based on her original charcoal drawings or photographs, which are then digitally manipulated.
Her work focuses on people and how they connect with (or are alienated from) others. Her subjects are often alone or set from the crowd, and display both fragility and strength. We see them perform but we can not be sure who the performance is for.
