Based in London, Ricky Byrne is a screenprinter and visual artist whose work focuses on found material, subject studies and mixed media. One half of the commercial fine art printing duo Mesh & Blade, he has over 15 years of professional printing experience. His work has been selected and displayed in two consecutive Royal Academy Summer Shows. Ricky’s practice has been driven by experimentation with and refinement of printing techniques — from his CMYK botanical series through the gilded Stellae, Zodiac and Elements work to the Movement series: a departure from figurative subject matter in favour of expressive, abstract colour blends he describes as ‘generously, curated chaos.’ The Composition Series continues that exploration of colour, form and the unexpected results of the monoprinting process.
