Laura Coates was born in 1985 and currently lives and works in London. She studied for a BA in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art followed by a Masters in Illustration in 2012. She works in a range of media from textiles to digital drawing; the common theme being the use of a single illustrative line. Working from life as much as possible, Laura’s most recent works are rendered by hand in pen on paper and often created within minutes. The resulting portraits celebrate the energy and attitudes of the women depicted just as much as the forms themselves.
