Joe Wilson is a UK-based illustrator who developed his print skills at Leeds Metropolitan University, where he built a style reminiscent of etching and woodcut printing — characterised by highly detailed crosshatching, intense draftsmanship and a preference for muted colour palettes. He works with pencil, ink and digital colour as a hybrid of the traditional and contemporary, and is represented by Debut Art. His commercial clients span Johnnie Walker, Adidas, GQ, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, National Geographic, Film4, The Folio Society and Penguin Books, among many others. He created the first illustrated edition of Arthur C. Clarke’s 2001: A Space Odyssey for the Folio Society, and his Washington Post summer movie poster illustrations won two Society of News Design awards in 2017. At Print Club London his Studio Ghibli screen prints — Princess Mononoke and My Neighbour Totoro — are among his most collected and most loved.
