Sky and land at evening — the two elements of the landscape that the light makes most legible at the day's end, the sky shifting through orange and pink while the land below holds its greens longer than it should. Gavin Dobson's Landscapes of the Mind series treats landscape as a psychological as much as a physical subject: the premise being that how you feel and how you see the land around you are not separable things.
Natural Paradise is the evening companion to Morning Over The Greenfields — the same abstract landscape sensibility at a different time of day, a different quality of light, a different feeling in the body. Oil on board, sky and land dancing in the evening, signed. £250.
