Float framed in natural wood. Ex- show piece
A tender, atmospheric composition, The Eclipse depicts two figures embracing under soft candlelight — a moment of intimacy suspended in shadow and glow. Inspired by the emotive strength and symbolism of Frida Kahlo, the piece carries a quiet intensity, blending romance with resilience and depth.
Rich tones and dramatic contrasts draw the eye inward, illuminating the connection between the figures in a way that is both intimate and universal. The eclipse as a title names the moment when one presence passes in front of another — the brief obscuring that is also a precise alignment. ABOUT THE ARTIST
Margaux Carpentier
Margaux Carpentier is a French-born artist based in Stoke Newington, London who studied in Paris and Surrey. She works across screen printing, painting, drawing, spray paint, ceramics and large-scale murals — her practice built around storytelling through symbolic imagery, created entirely by hand using analogue methods. Her work addresses the head, heart, gut and flesh: desire, connection and the vibrant oddity of existence rendered in bold, unapologetic figures and folk-inflected symbols. She is part of Animaux Circus studio and the Puck collective, and is represented by Art Friend. She was campaign artist for Affordable Art Fair Battersea Spring 2025 and has painted murals at London Zoo and Homerton Hospital. In her own words: ‘Creation acts as a window, an unlimited access to colour and pleasure.’
