Oil on canvas piece Dip is part of Gavin Dobson's series 'SUMMER 2020' - a collection of what might have been. We were going on holiday. I was going on holiday. Or supposed to be. Unfortunately it was the Summer of 2020.
Instead I created a collection of oil paintings.
A fantasy of what may of been. Perfect bodies in paradise conditions. Pools, ponds, lidos, are places to work out or to relax and gaze at the surrounding beauty whilst floating weightlessly in a sea of blue. They’re also meeting places. Speedos, shorts, six-packs. A glance of a muscular back - wet - as it strains to heave its owner out of the pool. Simple shapes amongst bold colours create a contemporary With this series I wanted to explore the themes of water, anonymous physicality and male beauty. Dip is a striking quiet piece of a man taking those first steps into the pool. It's a calming painting using both figurative shapes and strong colours to create a contemporary fresh feel. Please note, this original piece is for **collection only**. A courier can be organised for London delivery.
