Bram Stoker’s Dracula was made for Film4’s Summer Screen Prints exhibition at Somerset House in 2016, a show that invited artists to respond to classic films through the medium of screen print. Cassandra Yap took Dracula as her source, which plays directly to the territory her work already lives in: the intersection of sensuality and menace, the dark and the beautiful held in the same image.
Yap works in a photomontage, halftone style, originally from Singapore and now based in London, combining vintage pin-up imagery with skulls, feathers and a recurring gothic, romantic streak. Her prints have shown at the Affordable Art Fair, Moniker Art Fair and in a solo show at Laylow Art Gallery in Palma de Mallorca.
Limited edition, signed. 500 x 700mm.
