The fifth piece in the series pushes the reduction further — the element from the larger painting now occupying a simpler relationship with the Velum White ground beneath it, the muted palette doing more with less. Hannah Ludnow‘s stated ambition in her larger works is to capture a sense of perspective, clarity and calm — the feeling that the vast beauty of the landscape brings. The Deconstruction pieces carry that intention at a smaller scale, the calm in the palette rather than the composition.
Ludnow graduated with a BA in Art from the University of Surrey in 1999 and has spent her career working between Cornwall and London, her abstract paintings rooted in the St Ives tradition she grew up alongside. Screen printed onto 270gsm Velum White. Limited edition, signed. £120.
