We Lay Long Enough to Squish the Buttercups is an original collage by Print Club artist David Newton. Known for his bold, graphic style and screen prints, Newton usually uses hand-cut paper to build print layers. In this special collection, the paper collage itself is the finished artwork. This vibrant collage shows a couple laying on the grass against a solid green background, capturing a quiet moment of relaxation and connection. Each element is carefully hand-cut and assembled in his studio using high-quality archival paper. Returns for items in perfect condition can be made within 30 days of your initial order. If you wish to make a return you must inform us in writing within 30 days of making your order. When making a return you must send the item using a fully tracked delivery service and appropriate insurance as we will not be held responsible for items missing or damaged on their return journey. Please note, we cannot accept returns unless you have kept the original packaging and are able to repackage the item securely using this.
You will be given the option of an exchange or we will refund your payment minus postage. We aim to reimburse you within 14 working days. Items made to order are not subject to returns. For example, any artwork printed to order will be non-returnable. Due to monitor settings colours may vary slightly from the colours you see on screen. However if large variations occur we will advise before shipment.
Damaged items must be notified with 72 hours of receiving the artwork. After this point we cannot offer a refund or replacement.
If artwork is returned to us damaged and deemed unsellable we are unable to offer a refund.
Please note framed items are non-refundable. We offer a discretionary 2 months on framed artwork warranty.
If you return a print you will be refunded the value of your order, minus the original shipping charge paid.
If you exchange a print you will be charged shipping for the second order.
If your print arrives damaged and you need to return it then please advise us first and then send it back via 2nd class signed for. The maximum we will cover for return shipment is £4.00 for 2nd class signed for UK and £20 for international.

If you order a print for collection but fail to collect we can hold the print for 6 months after which time it will be returned to the artist and no refund will be given. Any artwork not collected within 30 days of the initial order is not eligible for a refund.
If you want to return a print after 30 days it is the galleries discretion to refund or offer a credit note. We do not offer refund on all extended returns.
Gift vouchers are eligible for refund within 30 days of placing the order, to the original cardholder only. Vouchers are not exchangeable for cash, and can only be redeemed against purchases or workshop bookings from printclublondon.com.
If you’re not happy with your artwork, simply return it to us within 30 days of delivery.
Newton Davey (also known as David Newton) is an illustrator, screen printer, picture book creator, and well-collected artist.
A graduate of the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, Davey is based in London and is a proud member of Print Club London.
With over 17 years of experience in the book and publishing industry, Davey has spent his career immersed in his greatest passion and source of inspiration: books. His creative heart lies in the joyful meeting point of words and images—a space he explores through both storytelling and printmaking.
Davey describes himself as an image maker, crafting every piece entirely by hand. He avoids computers altogether, instead working with real pens and pencils, cutting and scribbling, collaging with tape and tracing paper—before exposing his handmade artworks directly onto screens for printing.
He prints and creates his artwork here in the studio at Print Club in Dalston, which he shares with friend and long-time collaborator Rose Stallard—a space full of creative energy, colour, and analogue charm.
