The cup as a vessel — the container that holds what might overflow, that gives form to what would otherwise be shapeless. Brewster came to painting in her forties as a means of exploring self-identity and the emotions sparked by motherhood, and these ink studies carry that quality of direct emotional working-out: the image simple on the surface, the process beneath it having its own resistance and logic. Simone Brewster (b. 1983, London) is an artist, designer, educator and cultural change-maker of Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage. She studied Architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and holds an MA in Design Products from the Royal College of Art. Her practice spans sculpture, furniture, jewellery, painting and objets d'art, with furniture pieces such as the Negress chaise lounge and the Mammy stool acquired by the Smithsonian Museum and the Museum of London. Her work has been exhibited at the British Embassy (London 2012 Olympic Games, British Design Talent), the Royal College of Art 175 Year Anniversary Exhibition, and Collect at the Saatchi Gallery.. The ink paintings represent a departure from the structured disciplines of architecture and furniture design into something more intuitive — the series of studies a practice of looking, naming and making in an immediate register. Delivery & Returns
Returns for items in perfect condition can be made within 30 days of your initial order. If you wish to make a return you must inform us in writing within 30 days of making your order. When making a return you must send the item using a fully tracked delivery service and appropriate insurance as we will not be held responsible for items missing or damaged on their return journey. Please note, we cannot accept returns unless you have kept the original packaging and are able to repackage the item securely using this.
You will be given the option of an exchange or we will refund your payment minus postage. We aim to reimburse you within 14 working days. Items made to order are not subject to returns. For example, any artwork printed to order will be non-returnable. Due to monitor settings colours may vary slightly from the colours you see on screen. However if large variations occur we will advise before shipment.
We advise not to buy any framing materials until you receive your order, due to some variations in print and paper size.
Damaged items must be notified with 72 hours of receiving the artwork. After this point we cannot offer a refund or replacement.
If artwork is returned to us damaged and deemed unsellable we are unable to offer a refund.
Please note framed items are non-refundable. We offer a discretionary 2 months on framed artwork warranty.
If you return a print you will be refunded the value of your order, minus the original shipping charge paid.
If you exchange a print you will be charged shipping for the second order.
If your print arrives damaged and you need to return it then please advise us first and then send it back via 2nd class signed for. The maximum we will cover for return shipment is £4.00 for 2nd class signed for UK and £20 for international.

If you order a print for collection but fail to collect we can hold the print for 6 months after which time it will be returned to the artist and no refund will be given. Any artwork not collected within 30 days of the initial order is not eligible for a refund.
If you want to return a print after 30 days it is the galleries discretion to refund or offer a credit note. We do not offer refund on all extended returns.
Gift vouchers are eligible for refund within 30 days of placing the order, to the original cardholder only. Vouchers are not exchangeable for cash, and can only be redeemed against purchases or workshop bookings from printclublondon.com.

Simone Brewster (b. 1983, London) is an artist, designer, educator and cultural change-maker of Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage. Her practice spans sculpture, furniture, jewellery, painting and objets d’art. Furniture pieces including the Negress chaise lounge and the Mammy stool — exploring the history of Blackness and the oppression of women of colour — have been acquired by the Smithsonian Museum and the Museum of London. Her work has been exhibited at the British Embassy during the London 2012 Olympic Games as British Design Talent, at the Royal College of Art 175 Year Anniversary Exhibition, and at Collect at the Saatchi Gallery. Her ink paintings, which she came to in her forties as a means of exploring self-identity and the emotions sparked by motherhood, are the most direct and intuitive part of her practice — the Studies at Print Club London sitting alongside the architectural and sculptural work as the most personal body of her output. Her hero is Louise Bourgeois.
