The French Marigold — Tagetes patula, originally from Mexico but so thoroughly adopted into French and British garden culture that its common name has stuck for centuries. Clare Halifax's hand-drawn approach finds the botanical particularity within the familiar: the marigold's specific leaf form, the way the petals arrange themselves, the orange that varies between specimens. Four colours, image size 35cm, hand-printed on Somerset Satin — the same quality and care as her more complex works, the simpler palette a compositional choice. Limited edition, signed. £200.
