Before she became known for Chemical Brothers sleeve artwork and Burberry campaign commissions, Kate Gibb was doing exactly this: finding the visual DNA of a pop icon and pulling it apart layer by layer on a silkscreen. Prince Charming takes Adam Ant at his most theatrical — the 1981 number one, the video, the whole pantomime — and translates that energy into print, process-led and colour-forward in exactly the way Gibb works.
The piece was created for Print Club London’s Blisters: Sound Sessions show in 2014, part of a music-inspired exhibition that drew submissions from hundreds of artists before selecting forty to print and exhibit. It’s a piece with a specific moment attached to it, and that context only adds to what’s on the paper. Limited edition, signed by the artist.
