3-colour screen print on B2 325gsm paper. Edition of 18. Signed by the artist. 'The Blue Lawn Chair' is an imagined abstract of observations and a play on colour tone — the everyday garden chair as the starting point for something that is less about depicting the object than about what colour can do when it works freely around a familiar form. Three layers, each one repainted from the original artwork, distil the observation down to its essential tonal relationships. The small edition of 18 makes this the most limited piece in the current Flower Up series. Each colour layer is a physically repainted positive from an original artwork, becoming its own observed memory through textural mark making. Flower Up explores the retelling of these 'observed' moments through colour play and textural momentum. Alex Evans is the founder of Flower Up Studio — a London-based multidisciplinary creative practice spanning photography, cinematography, illustration, animation and graphic design, with over a decade of work in the music industry. His printmaking extends his personal explorations into everyday observation and memory: each colour layer is a physically repainted positive from an original artwork, turning the initial observation into a distilled abstract re-rendering — like a memory of the original.. Our guide to investing in art prints is worth reading at this price. Edition of 18, signed. £225.

Alex Evans is a London-based photographer, cinematographer, illustrator and motion director who has spent over a decade creating visual work for some of the most respected names in music. Through his studio Flower Up, founded in 2017, he has directed and shot for artists including Orla Gartland, Jax Jones, Eels, Enter Shikari, Placebo, Spiritualized, Raleigh Ritchie and The Cribs, and worked with labels including Island Records, Capitol Records, EMI, Bella Union, Heavenly Records and [PIAS].
His printmaking is something different — a personal practice running alongside the commercial work, driven by everyday observation and memory rather than a brief. Each screen print begins as a direct observation: something seen on the street, in a room, in passing. That initial image is then rebuilt layer by layer, each colour screen a physically repainted positive from the original artwork, accumulating into something that holds the spirit of what was seen while becoming its own thing. The result is closer to a memory of the original than a record of it — vivid, textural, and entirely his own.
