The orange colourway of John Booth's first full-fluorescent edition, presented in an oak float frame ready to hang. The warm tone of the oak against the fluorescent orange gives this framed version a specific quality — the natural material of the wood and the artificial intensity of the fluorescent ink pulling against each other in a way that makes both more present.
Booth graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2009 with a BA in Fashion Print Design and now teaches there as an Associate Lecturer. His fashion clients have included Zandra Rhodes, John Galliano, Ashish, Christopher Shannon, FENDI and Paul Smith, with work appearing in the windows of Selfridges and the Conran Shop. The float frame presents the print with a slight gap between the artwork and the backing board, so the cut edge of the paper remains visible as part of the composition. ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Booth
John Booth was born in Scotland in 1984 and raised in Cumbria before moving to London to study, graduating from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Fashion Print Design in 2009 — during which he interned at John Galliano and Zandra Rhodes. He now teaches as an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins and also lectures at the University of Westminster. His fashion clients include Zandra Rhodes, John Galliano, Ashish, Christopher Shannon, FENDI, Paul Smith and Sunspel, and his work has appeared in the windows of Selfridges, the Conran Shop and Hospital Rooms. His practice spans illustration, ceramics, collage, embroidery and textile design. He draws inspiration from Karel Appel, Betty Woodman, retro children’s playgrounds and postmodern Italian designers, with colour strongly connected to his childhood in the Lake District.
