Poppy’s Papercutting & Screenprint Workshop

Have you ever wanted to work alongside well-known artists to produce work? As you all know we’ve recently worked with Poppy Chancellor aka as Poppy’s Papercuts and in May we are introducing ‘Guest Workshops’ where you’ll be able to work alongside an artist and learn the tips of the trade from them! To kick things off Poppy is teaching the very first workshop…

Our aim with our new workshop series is to give more of an insight into not only the inner workings of our East London studio but, also a closer look at how well-known working artists/illustrators create their work! Throughout the next few months we’ll be collaborating with artists to run 2-day workshops which they will show you their trade secrets and Our talented printers will guide you through producing work as a screen print.

Join Poppy Chancellor who will be showing you how to produce your very own paper cut designs and then work with one of Print Club London’s tutor to guide you through all aspects of screen print design and teach you how to create a single layer screen print of your papercut.

Day 1 kicks off in the Print Club Gallery (next door to the Print Club studio) in Dalston. You will be working alongside Poppy Chancellor (Poppy’s Papercuts) she will be showing you have to translate your idea into a paper-cut, you’ll create two paper-cuts with Poppy.

With the small class size, there will be lots of time for Poppy to discuss with you the best way to achieve an amazing papercut. We will supply the paper, cutting mats and knives to work with in the session.

Day 2 is all about the printing… You will pick your favourite paper-cut which you created from day one. Our very skilled screen print tutor will now take over from Poppy and lead you through how to turn your one-off paper cut into a limited edition screen print! You’ll learn the tricks of the trade from start to finish – Going through digital artworking, coating up a screen, exposing your screen, printing and all the bits in between. After you’ve produce 6 screen prints of your design and you’ve had a chance to admire your newly taught printing prowess, you will be shown how to blast out your screen!
