Modern screen printing at a professional level suffers from one major drawback, a lack of a standardised colour mixing system for inks. The colour referencing books we often use contain formulae tailored to lithographic inks and do not translate accurately when used for screen printing. In addition to this, ‘standard’ pigments are usually not base, or pure colours, but rather mixed pigments. This results in greater colour clash (burnout), less vibrance and permanence. Print Club Ink seeks to address this problem by introducing a range of eight triple milled single pigment inks in addition to a black and a white. This range serves as the building blocks to mix the entire colour spectrum without compromising on vibrancy. In conjunction we are launching an online crowdsourced colour library where users of Print Club Ink can share their formulae and work together in making an easy to use accurate, accessible body of colour references. In short this range is designed for screen printing and made for mixing.
