We are absolutely delighted to introduce our next Artist in Residence, Hazel Laing! During Hazel’s month in residence here at Print Club, she worked in our studios creating new pieces working alongside our technicians and gallery curators.

Hazel is an illustrator from Edinburgh based in London. Her process is all about getting messy and drawing intuitively with playful use of her materials. Observational drawing is at the heart of her practice, where she enjoys recording lively depictions of subject and place within her sketchbooks, which she uses to reference her illustrations later. Texture, colour relationships and layers are elements she likes to explore through her artwork. She draws from a wide range of influences such as ballet, costume, paper theatres, old books, and stamps.

Hazel loves nothing more than a chilly drawing trip to the Scottish coast.
