Summer Screen Prints with Ben Rider

After the fall of the Inca empire, a Spanish expedition is sent down the Amazon towards Peru in search of gold, but when Don Aguirres, a ruthless man who is obsessed with wealth, becomes leader, their destiny becomes uncertain.

Ben Rider is a fluorescent ink obsessed print mercenary, commercial illustrator and teacher. Ben specialises in rough, raw, punky image making bursting with energy and loud graphics.

Ben loves the gratifying nature of print and what it can add to an illustration, the sense of physically making something with your hands has an honesty, it gives work a certain soul and character and to him this acts as a middle finger to the increasingly homogenised slick corporate world sold to us.
If this is your first year creating artwork for Film Four Summer Screens – what are you most looking forward to and how does it feel to be involved?
It feels great to be involved. I’m most interested in seeing how the other artists have interpreted their choice and how people react to the way in which i’ve interpreted my film in my working style.
What message do you believe your artwork carries besides the actual redesign of the film poster?
The destructive force of greed, and the overwhelming power of nature.
Some of Ben Rider’s best bits…
