This 2-hour evening workshop is the perfect taster session for anyone curious about screen printing. And if you find yourself hooked (which many do!), you can take things to the next level by joining our full Beginners Workshop.
The workshop starts with a brief introduction to screen printing and the Print Club London studio. You’ll be talked through the equipment used throughout the evening, along with the key theory behind the process.
You’ll also be guided through the steps for prepping your print and shown some amazing examples of artwork created in our studio by working artists.
or this workshop, our tutors will take care of preparing your designs using digital processes, turning them into ready-to-use Positives for screen exposure.
We just ask that you email your design to [email protected] at least 72 hours before your workshop, so our team has time to get everything ready.
Don’t worry if you’re not confident with Photoshop or digital tools, there’s no need to bring artwork already prepped. Our technicians will walk you through the steps they take, explaining the process clearly so you can understand the theory behind it, even if you’re completely new to it all.
Here is where you will take your Positive and expose it onto your coated screen to make the stencil you will be printing with in the afternoon. You will be making a 1 colour print and therefore expose one image. The tutor will talk you through how our large exposure unit works and then help you wash out your screen afterwards.
Once all preparation has been done it’s time to print! The printers will show you how to get your screen set up on our printing beds and some key printing techniques. You will then be left to print your own 1 colour small edition of prints, on our workshop paper supplied by GF Smith. Our tutors will be there long the way give you a helping hand and talk you through any problems that might pop up. Once you’re finished printing you learn how to clean your screen completely, ready for use again!
You’ll need to email your artwork to [email protected] at least 72 hours before your workshop. This gives our team time to prepare your image as a Positive, ready for printing on the day.
Your design can be anything you like a photo, something hand-drawn, illustrated, or even an image you’ve found (as long as it’s copyright-free). Please ensure it’s an A4 black and white design, saved at 300dpi in one of the following formats: .JPEG / .PDF / .PSD.
On the day of your workshop, you’ll be able to choose from a wide range of coloured inks and print on beautiful workshop paper, generously provided by GF Smith.
A quick note: the workshop is a fun, inky environment, so don’t wear your best clothes! Also, our studio can get chilly in the winter months, so we recommend dressing warmly and comfortably.
If you need to cancel or re-arrange your workshop you must do this 14 working days prior to your workshop. Any cancellation within 14 working days of your workshop may result in you not being refunded or a new space allocated. If you cannot make a workshop within 14 working days of your date we will endeavour to fill your space however, a refund or date change can only be made if that space is filled.
If it’s a group booking then we cannot guarantee that all the spaces will be sold, as we advertise each space individually.
