MYOL by Kate Moross
“Sometimes you don’t have what you need, but you just have to make it work. You can’t expect your dreams to come true without putting in a lot of hard work first.”
Kate Moross is a London-based graphic designer, illustrator and art director who has worked prolifically, creating vibrant artwork for some of the world’s most successful publications, musicians and companies. While studying at Camberwell College of Arts in 2007, Creative Review selected her for a Creative Future award. In 2012, she launched Studio Moross as a full-service creative design studio and sat on the jury for the D&AD Awards during the same year. She is one of our top-artists here at Print Club and we simply love her colourful world and powerful talented mind.
As someone with a career that many twice her age would be proud of, Kate is well-placed to advise future generations on achieving success, which is what her book and solo exhibition, Make Your Own Luck, aim to do!
‘Make Your Own Luck – The Show’ opened for 10 days only at The Cob Gallery last April, featuring hundreds of original illustrations, designs and working drawings among her more recent video and moving image work.
Kate is a vivacious artist who is fascinated with three sided shapes, illegible typography, and freeform lettering. She has worked abundantly creating bold and vibrant artwork for some of the world’s most successful companies, as well honing her own unique style and approach.
The exhibition was an illuminating exploration into the creative process and tenacious appetite to create from one of the UK’s most successful young illustrators and designers and was presented alongside the launch of Moross’ first book ‘Make Your Own Luck: A DIY Attitude to Design & Illustration’ which is published by Prestel and available here.
You can find Kate’s American Psycho poster for Print Club’s Blisters 2012 ‘The Director’s Cut’ show on page 192 and keep your eyes peeled because we’ll be announcing a new collaboration with her very soon!
