Clare Halifax: A Decorative World in Print
Clare Halifax is a London-based printmaker known for her intricate, pattern-rich screenprints that combine architecture, nature, and storytelling. Working from her studio at Print Club London in Dalston, Clare has built a large archive of work that captures the character of places, especially London, through a highly decorative and detailed style.
With a BA in Printed Textile Design from Loughborough University and an MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking from UWE, Clare brings a strong foundation in design and print to every piece. Her work often focuses on cityscapes, botanical forms, and stylised landscapes, all composed with precise linework, rich textures, and carefully chosen colour palettes.
Using traditional screenprinting techniques, Clare creates limited edition prints that reflect both craftsmanship and visual clarity. Works such as The Nature of London, Little London, and Around and About London reveal her ability to blend narrative detail with bold design.
Her archive at Print Club London is extensive and constantly evolving. It includes both recent editions and earlier pieces, many of which are not available online. From iconic landmarks to quieter urban corners, Clare’s work celebrates the beauty found in both structure and ornament.
Over the years, Clare has collaborated with institutions like the V&A, Liberty, and Tate Online. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show, Affordable Art Fair, and Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, gaining recognition for her distinctive and accessible visual language.
