M.E. Ster-Molnar is a California-born, London-based artist with a BA in Studio Art from Florida State University. She spent many years as a fashion designer — founding the ME & Blue boutique and clothing line in Philadelphia and then Venice, California — before devoting herself to art full time. The monoprint process she uses is impossible to entirely control: she hand-paints directly onto the silkscreen before printing, and rather than trying to fix the chance elements this produces, she allows the imperfections to take centre stage. Her Super Bloom series — one-of-a-kind original monoprints of flowers observed with the sustained attention of someone genuinely obsessed with them — draws from her California upbringing, her London neighbourhood and wherever she travels. Inspired by the beautiful imperfections of everyday life, from vintage 7-Up signs to the Yucca plants thriving unexpectedly in city streets.
