ABOUT THE ARTIST
Victoria Langdon
I am a silk screen printer working with both fabric and paper. All my printing is done by hand to create multi-layered bold and colourful prints. I currently work from an east London print studio and show my work in galleries in London and Brighton.
The subject of my most recent work is the ‘country-gent’ of the bird world; the pheasant. In contrast to the urban pigeons, the subject of my last print series, pheasants have associations with rural gentry. My prints capture the comical quirkiness to this bird. Images of pheasants are also connected to an idealised view of the quintessential British countryside. By using hand drawn bold black outlines and graphical colour the printing style is reminiscent of early commercial printing techniques.
