PRINT AROUND THE WORLD / TAKE PART!
The Big Idea :
One piece of artwork travels the globe, passing from print studio to print studio. Each studio adds a single layer using its own techniques, materials, and character, then sends it on. By the end, the print carries the fingerprints of every studio that touched it.
Why we’re doing it :
- To connect print studios who might never otherwise meet!
- To celebrate the printmaking and all the amazing makers.
- To build a visible, shared story that studios and audiences can follow with us.
- To make something no single studio could make alone!
How it works :
- The starting piece will be created here by our Creative Director & Illustrator Rose Stallard
- Each studio adds one layer. Use any technique you like. You have creative freedom but please be mindful others will come after you and everyone needs space to print/work.
- Document your turn. Photograph or film the process, we will share more on this.
- Pass it on. Pack it carefully and ship it to the next studio.
- The finale. The finished print returns to Print Club and is exhibited, and is documented.
Guidelines for participating studios:
- Format: B2 on GFSMITH (paper tbc)
- Artwork: You can have fun! But think about leaving room for those who come after you.
- Inks and materials: water-based or archival preferred
- Timing: 1 month per studio. Let us know early if you need longer.
- Shipping: flat, between rigid boards, in waterproof packaging. [
- Signature: each studio signs or stamps the back with its name and location.
What we’ll create for you:
- A shared hashtag and tagging guide: #PrintClubsPrintAroundTheWorld
- A map showing where the print is and where it’s heading next
- A feature for every studio on our channels and in the newsletter
- A final exhibition.
Who we’re looking for :
Independent and community print studios of any size, from any country, that can commit to the timeline and are happy to share the process publicly. We’re aiming for 12 studios around the world.
How to join :
Drop us an email with your studio name and some info about you.
Selected studios will be contacted. We hope to work with as many as possible.
Submissions close 1st Dec 2026, studios wil be notified within 2 weeks.
Our plan is to start the project in early January 2027 with the artwork being shipped from us!
