He graduated from Central St Martins College of Art & Design, London with a BA (Hons) degree in Product Design in 2007. Jonathan started his studying of design at Leeds College of Art and Design in 2001. During 2004 / 2005 he lived in Milan and studied industrial design at the Politecnico.
In September 2009 Jonathan and fellow designer Caroline Siposwere awarded a prestigious Peroni Blue Ribbon Design Award for their collaborative design of a sculptural olive tree – used for serving and presenting olives.*
July 2008 saw Mathmos release Jonathan’s product ‘Revolution’, a candle powered graphical lighting product. This was followed three months later by the second version of the product.
Jonathan was awarded an iF Design Concept Award Material in May 2006, for an experimental project entitled ‘Cosmic Rock’, involving salt and resin castings. His work has been exhibited and published both nationally and internationally.
In May 2008 Jonathan took on a part-time consultancy position with the British Council’s Creative Economy Unit, where he worked for a year before launching his own design and manufacturing label, DesignedMade.
Jonathan also works as a freelance designer on product, graphic and web-based projects. He has worked for various clients, including the British Council, Chris Lefteri Design and Daylight Company.
