Alex May Hughes

Alex May Hughes is a sign painter and glass gilder based in West London. She graduated from The London College of Communication in 2012, where she studied Typography and graphic design. Since graduating she has shown in various group shows (Somerset House, KK Outlet, Chicago Art Dept, London Fashion Week, Oxo Tower) as well as 3 Solo exhibitions in 2014 (Gallery 223), 2016 (71a Gallery), 2018 (Mother London)

Hughes has undertaken a number of large scale commissions, including bespoke signs for Palm Vaults cafe on Mare Street and Tessa Metcalfe jewellers on Laystall Street, she was also commissioned by Penguin Books to re-design the cover of ‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett as part of their Essentials Collection. She has worked on projects for Sony ATV, Urban Outfitters Sheet magazine, Warner Brothers records, The Times Arts, Bombay Sapphire and has designed a cover for Stylist Magazine.
